Wes and Kelly here! Here on our blog you will find our travel guides and tidbits from our many adventures we take on the weekend’s, along with longer trips as well! We hope these stories can give you value to your next adventure in one of these cities, or just inspire you to live a more blissful life!
Why we started our travel blog
Our Story
WKNDBLSS started out of our desire to share our travels with the world at large by starting a blog and traveling more. However, most of the stories we were seeing on Instagram were all about people who quit their jobs and bought a van, or worked out of an RV, or quit and sold everything to travel the world. All props to them of course (that’s awesome!), but for us, our local community is important to us and we truly value being part of it. Also, we both love our jobs (Wes—analyst for our county’s mental health department, Kelly—runs her own graphic design business), and are proud to work hard to help others in our community by continuing to work hard in these careers. Because of this, we spend a lot of our weekends roadtripping, backpacking, camping in the local forests, or just adventuring around our own backyard. We are here to share these experiences with others and remind others that the grass is greener where you water it, and you don’t have to quit everything to see the world.
Why we live in Monterey, California
WOW!
When we are traveling, people always ask where we are from, more often than not, the reaction is “WOW.” (insert million dollar mansions, some serious rich kids stigma, or your favorite Big Little Lies quote here :P ). And then, we continue telling them what we’re up to, what we’ve seen, where we’ve been, OR inquiring what THEY would recommend, AND that we are normal people just like them. We are all just tourists here on this earth for a little while. Might as well make the most of it!
We are your “weekend bliss-ers”! We enjoy exploring our own backyard of the Monterey Peninsula region, along with adventures overseas whenever we get the chance. Follow us on our journey and we hope to turn you on to some new adventures, big or small!
